Obama Promises more Dictorial Action in 2014

In remarks before a cabinet meeting Tuesday, President Obama promised more executive action bypassing Congress, telling those assembled he would use “a pen and a phone,” The Blaze reported.

“So Congress is going to be busy, and I’m looking forward to working with Democrats and Republicans, House members and Senate members, to try to continue to advance the economic recovery and to provide additional ladders of opportunity for everybody,” he said. [When has Obama ever worked with Rebuplicans? and where is the Economic recovery? Where are the jobs?]

“But one of the things that I’ll be emphasizing in this meeting is the fact that we are not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help that they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” he added.[Here is the dictator talking]

Translation: Obama is set to use his executive authority to bypass Congress — again.

Obama explained further: “I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward in helping to make sure our kids are getting the best education possible and making sure that our businesses are getting the kind of support and help they need to grow and advance to make sure that people are getting the skills that they need to get those jobs that our businesses are creating.” [Obama needs to quite saying he wants to help the American people - he only wants to help his own agenda, which is socialism - make everyone miserable except for a select few of which he will be one!]

But the president wasn't finished.

“I’ve got a phone that allows me to convene Americans from every walk of life—nonprofits, businesses, the private sector, universities—to try to bring more and more Americans together around what I think is a unifying theme: making sure that this is a country where if you work hard, you can make it,” he added. [forcing everyone to his way of thinking! You know - if you work hard you can make it - sounds like capitilism, but Obama thinks that is a bad word, bad policy! So how can you work hard to make it in Socialism? You can't because everything is taken from the hard workers to give to the poor workers and then everyone is poor because the hard workers stop working.]

Church Instructs Leaders on Same-Sex Marriage

Salt Lake City — Following recent court actions bearing on same-sex marriage, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles today sent the following instructions and guidance to congregational leaders throughout the United States. Leaders were asked to share this information with their members in appropriate settings.
On December 20, 2013, a federal district judge in Salt Lake City issued an order legalizing same-sex marriage in Utah, striking down century-old state laws and a state constitutional amendment that defined marriage exclusively as between a man and a woman. The United States Supreme Court has put that ruling on hold pending consideration of the issue by an appellate court. During the interval between the district court ruling and the Supreme Court stay, numerous same-sex marriages were performed in Utah. Legal proceedings and legislative action in some other states and countries have given civil recognition to same-sex marriage relationships.
As we face this and other issues of our time, we encourage all to bear in mind our Heavenly Father’s purposes in creating the earth and providing for our mortal birth and experience here as His children. “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:27–28). “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). Marriage between a man and a woman was instituted by God and is central to His plan for His children and for the well-being of society. Strong families, guided by a loving mother and father, serve as the fundamental institution for nurturing children, instilling faith, and transmitting to future generations the moral strengths and values that are important to civilization and crucial to eternal salvation.
Changes in the civil law do not, indeed cannot, change the moral law that God has established. God expects us to uphold and keep His commandments regardless of divergent opinions or trends in society. His law of chastity is clear: sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. We urge you to review and teach Church members the doctrine contained in “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.”
Just as those who promote same-sex marriage are entitled to civility, the same is true for those who oppose it. The Church insists on its leaders’ and members’ constitutionally protected right to express and advocate religious convictions on marriage, family, and morality free from retaliation or retribution. The Church is also entitled to maintain its standards of moral conduct and good standing for members.
Consistent with our fundamental beliefs, Church officers will not employ their ecclesiastical authority to perform marriages between two people of the same sex, and the Church does not permit its meetinghouses or other properties to be used for ceremonies, receptions, or other activities associated with same-sex marriages. Nevertheless, all visitors are welcome to our chapels and premises so long as they respect our standards of conduct while there.
While these matters will continue to evolve, we affirm that those who avail themselves of laws or court rulings authorizing same-sex marriage should not be treated disrespectfully. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us to love and treat all people with kindness and civility—even when we disagree.
As members of the Church, we are responsible to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to illuminate the great blessings that flow from heeding God’s commandments as well as the inevitable consequences of ignoring them. We invite you to pray that people everywhere will have their hearts softened to the truths of the gospel, and that wisdom will be granted to those who are called upon to decide issues critical to society’s future.

A Fix for Obamacare

The media is not saying what the Republican plan would be for an alternative to Obamacare. But Obama keeps saying that they do not have a plan. Republicans need to get a simple solution together, unite behind it and start telling it to every media they can find. It is time to get the republican message out. Eventually the democrates will win on this Obamacare and then America will "fundementally transformed" like Obama said he wanted to see when he was elected in 2008. Please read this simple plan.

I had never heard of John H. Cochrane before I read this piece this morning in the Wall Street Journal. That was my loss. He is a professor of finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a senior fellow of the Hoover Institution, and he has a clear sense that even most Republicans miss about what was really wrong with health care pre-ObamaCare, and why ObamaCare was not the right solution at all.
Better, Cochrane has a game plan for what to do once ObamaCare has collapsed:

Only deregulation can unleash competition. And only disruptive competition, where new businesses drive out old ones, will bring efficiency, lower costs and innovation.

Health insurance should be individual, portable across jobs, states and providers; lifelong and guaranteed-renewable, meaning you have the right to continue with no unexpected increase in premiums if you get sick. Insurance should protect wealth against large, unforeseen, necessary expenses, rather than be a wildly inefficient payment plan for routine expenses.

People want to buy this insurance, and companies want to sell it. It would be far cheaper, and would solve the pre-existing conditions problem. We do not have such health insurance only because it was regulated out of existence. Businesses cannot establish or contribute to portable individual policies, or employees would have to pay taxes. So businesses only offer group plans. Knowing they will abandon individual insurance when they get a job, and without cross-state portability, there is little reason for young people to invest in lifelong, portable health insurance. Mandated coverage, pressure against full risk rating, and a dysfunctional cash market did the rest.

Rather than a mandate for employer-based groups, we should transition to fully individual-based health insurance. Allow national individual insurance offered and sold to anyone, anywhere, without the tangled mess of state mandates and regulations. Allow employers to contribute to individual insurance at least on an even basis with group plans. Current group plans can convert to individual plans, at once or as people leave. Since all members in a group convert, there is no adverse selection of sicker people.

What sets Cochrane's ideas apart from many Republican plans is that it's not just about how you buy health insurance, but it's also about changing the whole idea of health insurance so that it works in the way insurance is supposed to work - as protection against risk, and not, in Cochrane's words, as "a wildly inefficient payment plan for routine expenses."

He also takes on the most frequently trotted-out lies of the left about there being no alternative to ObamaCare, or even that ObamaCare is some sort of necessary evil because there is no other way to fix the problems that were inherent in the system. That's nonsense. Of course there were other ways to fix them, and much better ways, but all Democrats wanted to do was further sink the tentacles of the federal government into the economy - and ObamaCare was a monstrous method of doing so.

The Republicans need to know how to really talk intelligently about what needs to be done on the health care front. And the Democrats need a clue. This offers many of them, if only they will listen.

We don’t usually care much about what Chris Matthews thinks. He’s one of those jackasses who cries racism when he has nothing intelligent to say.
But we think it’s interesting that the man who once claimed to get a thrill up his leg when he heard Barack Obama speak is now saying that the President is the political loser of the year.
All of this comes on the heels of Barbara Walters expressing disappointment that Barack Obama is not, indeed, the Messiah.
We think that there are an awful lot of lamestream media journalists who will be drinking quite a bit of eggnog this holiday season to cope with the fact that their hero, Barack Obama, is really an inept leader. The epiphany was a long time coming, but at least it’s arrived.
He wasn’t qualified to be President when he ran in ’08, the endorsement of Oprah Winfrey notwithstanding. He’s still not qualified to be President, but we’re stuck with him for 3 more years. And we can thank the media, at least in part, for that.

The snowflakes were falling on Washington, D.C.
People were setting up their Christmas trees.
The chestnuts were roasting in Farragut Square,
With just a touch of magic in the silvery air.

But one man was unmoved by this Christmas drama.
Our 44th president, a grinch named Obama.
Looking out from the Oval Office, he took a grim view
As he surveyed the scene on Pennsylvania Avenue:
“Look at them out there,” he said to Sebelius.
“Ringing Christmas bells and singing old songs melodious.
But while they’re all caroling ‘O Holy Night,’
They’re badly neglecting my health care website.

“I gave them reform—they’ve been asking for years.
I pushed it through Congress, over Republicans’ fears.
They said ‘It’s a mistake. We are loath to begin it.’
But Pelosi said, ‘Pass it and then see what’s in it.’

“We Democrats passed it right down party lines.
They’ll all pay fair shares or else face hefty fines.
Republicans whined it’s ‘not how lawmaking’s done!’
To which we responded, ‘Get over it. We won.’
“The Supreme Court endorsed it, a ruling of note,
When Chief Justice Roberts cast the deciding vote.
I’m thankful his Commerce Clause interpretation was lax—
It isn’t a mandate, it’s only a tax

!
“I had to make sure that the website worked well,
So I hired an old classmate of my wife, Michelle.

We spent $600 million and it took us three years,
But when the launch date came there was nothing but tears.
“Malfunctions were legion with crash after crash.
We were gonna need more of the taxpayers’ cash

.
How much? We’re not telling! But no need to fret.
The law will be great, on that you can bet!

“In the meantime, with things all a tatter,
I held a press conference to quell all the chatter.
I gave a phone number, surely that would do,
But wouldn’t you know, they couldn’t get through.
“Now Congress and their staffs view the law with contempt,
But they’ll quiet down soon, ’cause they’ll all be exempt!
The gift of waivers I gave to businesses

and friends.
With executive powers like mine, there’s really no end.
“Ted Cruz tried to stop it with all he could muster.
Why, he even held an old-fashioned talking filibuster.
He shouted ‘defund!’ for 21 hours,
But it didn’t take long for his fellow Republicans to cower.

“Still, signups were sluggish. They had to be faster,
Or else my new law would be a disaster.
I needed young people, the healthiest kind,
To pay for the rest. They’re politically blind!“
To subsidize old people across the nation,
We’re going to plunder the next generation.
It seemed so simple till the young folk got annoyed
They’re paying more taxes, but still unemployed.
“So, in an effort to make sure enrollments don’t plummet,
I decided it was high time to hold a youth summit.
‘You’re healthy right now, you young people,” I said.
‘But who knows? Tomorrow you all could be dead!

“‘To buy health insurance is your civic duty.
It’s a great deal, I promise. It’s really a beauty.’

But youngsters can tell when a salesman is lying.
They’re not signing up. They’re simply not buying.
“Affordable health care? It sure sounded nice.
Until people discovered the increase in price.
The premiums soared. There was something amiss.
Befuddled consumers cried “I can’t afford this!”
“People aren’t signing up and the website’s still broken.
The polling is in and the people have spoken.
They don’t like the law, and they’re upset with me.
They don’t like broken promises, apparently.”

Obama turned from the window with a sigh and a frown.
Kathleen shrugged her shoulders and said, “Don’t be down.
You got your law passed, with your trademark audacity.
Who cares if the website is filled to capacity?
“The law is in place, and they’ll have to submit.
So chin up! Shoulders back! We will win bit by bit.”

Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen

On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter

Lie of the Year

'Lie of the Year': The political fact-checking website, PolitiFact, says Obama's statement, "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it," has earned its 'Lie of the Year' award in 2013.

He said it not just once, but at least 37 times in recent years, according to PolitiFact.com.
